About Jungle Hut Bungalows and Hotel

 

Jungle Hut Bungalows and Hotel is located at the northern end of Haad Chao Phao on a road leading down to the beach. This accommodation option has a couple of beachfront bungalows; the rest are in a garden next to the beach.

 

The resort contains mostly backpacker bungalows with a series of 'deluxe' rooms in an accommodation block. There are also a few 'deluxe' bungalows available for rent.

 

Jungle Bungalows and Hotel has a restaurant and has a taxi service.

 

Despite the cheap bungalows and backpacker image, this resort gets praise for being value for money and providing good customer service.

 

Accommodation

 

The standard bungalow with fan has a double bed, fan and separate bathroom with toilet and cold water shower. It is possible to get a standard bungalow with twin beds. Some of these cheap bungalows are wooden with stilts, others are concrete. All come with private balcony with outdoor furniture.

 

The superior bungalows with fan are in a row. They are larger concrete bungalows but close together. Inside they have tiled floor, large fan and separate bathroom with hot water shower and toilet. The room also contains a mini bar. Superior bungalows with fan are available with double bed or twin beds.

 

The deluxe bungalow has 24.5 sq metres of space. It features a concrete build, air-con, hot water bathroom, fridge and private terrace. There is more attention paid with these bungalows to detail and comfort.

 

Deluxe double and twin rooms are in an accomodation block. These rooms have 32 sq. metres of space. They are available as doubles or twins. They feature air-con, hot water bathroom, fridge, TV with cable channels and DVD player. These rooms also have private balconies.

 

The most luxurious option is the beachfront bungalow. This has 56 sq metres. It has a double bed, air-con, hot water bathroom, fridge, TV with cable channels and DVD player. These bungalows are right on the beach.

 

All rooms have free wifi access to the internet.

 

Resort facilities

 

The Thai food being cooked at the restaurant at Jungle Hut Bungalows and Hotel deserves mention. It is delicious and good value. Sometimes there is a queue to get served due to the popularity of the restaurant.

 

The facilities in bungalows and rooms vary. The cheap fan bungalows have a fan and cold water shower. The better bungalows have fridge and hot water. The best bungalows and rooms have air-con, hot water, cable TV, fridge and DVD player. All rooms and public areas have wifi.

 

For those 'old skool' folk who like to read books on the beach, there are plenty of second hand books for sale in the reception area.

 

The friendly staff are happy to organise travel tickets and to do laundry. They have regular taxis going to Thongsala every morning. They can also arrange private taxis for guests. There is also bicycle rental.

 

Note on Maid Service

 

As with most backpacker bungalow resorts in Koh Phangan, guests should not expect maid cleaning. The custom is to ask for new towels and sheets and for your bin to be cleared. This will normally be done with moderate alacrity and a smile. Guests need to be a bit pro-active about getting maid service.
