Thongsala Accommodation |
Big Boss Hostel
The room was easy. Very big. I found a shaver from the last person in the bathroom. Air-co and fan are very good. It's very close to the pier. But around is no beautiful beach. You need to take a taxi or a motorbike. A seven eleven is around the Conor and nice shops and restaurants.Jasmin P, Germany - Agoda
Pros: location, cheap, meeting new friends Cons: kind of dirty, leaky guttersYong T, Malaysia - Agoda
Me and my friend stayed here. Awesome place, very friendly people, great location. Everything you need is here. Bikes for rent, tickets for boats, buses, tours, anything you need they will help. Will definitely come back.Jebus211 - Tripadvisor
I arrived on Koh Phangan with no accommodation booked, whilst walking the streets I was very warmly welcomed by Sam the hostel manager and several guests chilling at the front of the Hostel and was drawn in by their hospitality. If you're looking for a good time in Koh Phangan, there's really no where else to stay!Shane M, Australia - Tripadvisor

Big Boss Hostel has a small dorm as well as a few rooms for rent. It is located in the centre of Thongsala near the port. The hostel is aimed at young party goers turning up in Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party. This is a good place to stay for the price conscious and for those looking for a sociable experience.
Big Boss Hostel has been opened for a few years now and has received mostly rave reviews for being friendly, value-for-money and having great atmosphere.
The dormitory at Big Boss Hostel is comparatively small for Koh Phangan. It is a mixed dorm with just 4 beds so it gets filled quickly. It is also suitable for people travelling in groups. The price varies between 300 and 350 Thai Baht during the low season. Obviously the price goes up every month for the Full Moon Party. The dorm is air-con, has access to hot water shower and has lockers.
The standard double room has 10 sq metres of space. The rooms feature a modern polished concrete interior design. The rooms have air-con, hot water bathroom and a few hangers. Some of the double beds are mattresses on plinths rather than conventional frames.
The deluxe room also has just 10 sq metres of space. These rooms have air-con, hot water shower as well as plasma TV. Essentially the deluxe room involves paying an extra $7 a night for a TV.
The family room option offers a bit more space (12 sq metres) as well as 2 double beds. Air-con and hot water shower also incuded.
Big Boss Hostel provides dorm beds as well as private rooms. The hostel accommodation is air-con and the showers have hot water. A few of the rooms feature a plasma TV. There is a pleasant area outside the rooms to sit and enjoy a cigarette and some quiet time. As with several Thongsala accommodation options there is no real communal lounge or bar: rather tables and chairs are pulled together in the reception. Cheap drinks can be got from the nearby 7-11 or from the fridge in the hostel. There is a TV at the reception too.
What is lacking in facilities at the hostel is made up for by the friendliness of the staff. They encourage group outings, drinks parties and foster the spirit of full moon madness.
The hostel has free wifi, drinks for sale and a laundry service. They will organise tours and moped rental.
Children under 6 can stay for free with parents if no extra bed is used. Between 6 and 10 years old extra bedding is compulsory.
