Alcove Bungalow
Alcove Bungalow and Alcove Bistrot are the brain child of 2 French ladies, Karine and Melanie. It consists of a wonderful French restaurant on the beach at Hin Kong with a few bungalows and a separate 'villa'.
The accommodation is not luxurious but it is well designed with an eye for the small details. French, English and Thai is spoken here. The numerous good reviews for both the restaurant and the bungalows speak for themselves. For more about restaurants in Hin Kong click here.
Presently Alcove has got 7 bungalows, 1 'family villa' and 1 large room to rent. All the accommodation is near the popular French bistrot on the beach.
The bungalows have air-con, en-suite bathroom with hot water. Each bungalow has its own patio along with hammock, table and chair. There is the choice of 'deluxe', 'superior' and 'standard' bungalow. They are all very pleasant in terms of comfort and space. The differences are to do with colour schemes and views. The rooms have storage space and places to hang towels. They also have a 'Thai style' living space. The bungalows are 30 sq meters.
The family villa has 2 bedrooms as well as a separate living room and kitchen. It is air-con and has a hot water bathroom. The villa has a TV and fridge. The family villa has 60 sq meters of space.
The large room is on the second floor and enjoys great sea views. It has air-con, hot water bathroom, TV and fridge.
Karine and Melanie go the extra mile for their guests. They keep the accommodation spotless and are more than happy to deal with requests and questions.
The resort has the best French food on Koh Phangan. Both women grew up with dads who were butchers. They know lots about cooking and wine. The bistrot is the main amenity. It is a wonderful open structure with great seaviews and a relaxing ambiance. They host live music and other events, but nothing in the raucous vien of the Full Moon Party!
For those looking for other types of food there are other restaurants near by as well as a 7-11.
There is free wifi in the rooms. Maids clean the rooms and fresh towels are provided. For a small fee laundry can be done.
For the Full Moon the minimum stay is 3 nights. For Christmas and New Year's Eve it is 5 nights.
